Default did you guys buy the skins ?

I play this game once and a wile but what i dont understand is why dose fire sky charge money for the differnt skins? Its not like this is a huge budget game, and even $20.00 is more than enought for this game. I just was wondering WHO FEELS LIKE THE SKINS WERE WORTH THE 5 BUCKS MORE YOU PAYED?

now i bought this game jsut cuz i was a fan of stargate sg1, and i said "20 bucks for a stargate game, cool" no problem... **** i got my brother to get the game so we can play online. Then i see other people running around with differnt armor on, and i thought "dang this game is going to be as indepth as call of duty" (how u have to unlock new things and rank up).. but later on i found out that you buy the skins from the developers.WoW how lame. so now there is two new skins bins to purches witch makes this game $30.00 if you bought them.
So the question is do you feel that you should have to pay for a more recycled Ureal engine skins? or How much more money are you willing to dump on this game?

ps: do you guys think that the maps r going to cost money as well.

pps: WERE ARE THE ZAP-NICATOES ?? (spelling)??

Currently they are working on a FREE* map for the game and I'm sure others are there to follow.

Later they will be adding unlockables though. Weapons and such.

i bought one pack. i don't really use it anymore because lately i've just wanted to look like a normal jaffa, but i don't feel like i wasted my money. in the past 15 years, i've "dumped" at least $500 into star trek/wars games. i would love to have spent some of that on stargate games, but there weren't any. considering that i've already played sgr longer than any of those other games, i'm more than willing to part with half what i spent on the others for such enjoyment. and if i spend 50 bucks over the next year buying the game piece by piece, i won't feel ripped off, because that's what games usually cost anyway.
but all reasoning aside, what it really comes down to is this. if you're a stargate fan that wants to play a stargate game, then give them some money and you can play. if you want to look cool, give them some more money and you can look cool.

I bought the packs to look cool, but mainly because I feel like paying the extra $15 sort've helps... and I'd like to help keep the boat here afloat for as long as possible .

Also, I loved "pps: WERE ARE THE ZAP-NICATOES ?? (spelling)??". They are not Zapnicatoes... they are 'Zat'ni'katel' (thus Zat guns). I am not pointing this out because of the spelling, actually, but I just love the word you made up, especially since it ends with toes.

I bought all the packs. If it helps firesky why not! I for one think they should charge for the new new dlc.

You are aware, he probably meant Modern Warfare, and it is usually bought for the multiplayer.

Anyway, I bought the Jaffa/Commando and the Ash'rak/Scientist Packs, and the Jaffa is great looking, and the Ash'rak is great looking.(I play SL almost exclusively, however the others look great as well when their blood is splattered against a wall)

It is all weather or not you want to look different than you do. I like them, and they were worth it too me. However, I could understand anyone who wouldn't find them worth it, because some people just don't wan't them that much. It is a $20 game, and I got $60 bucks worth of gameplay, plus more when the DLC comes out, so paying half of what it is worth to me... Good deal on my end.

I bought them because:

a) I wanted to look cool in game, although the game doesnt save when I select the different outfits and I have to change them each time I go in, so I don't bother anymore

b) Because of the financial stuggle that is occuring with Stargate Branded games, I feel that it is my duty as a ######## Stargate fan to support Firesky and the dev team so that we may enjoy Stargate Resistance and, hopefully, Stargate Worlds in the future.

Not only is SGR a great game to play once you get used to it and ignore the bugs, but it also creates a medium for Stargate Fans to communicate with each other and build bonds both through the Game and on the forums.

Furthermore, $20 for a game of this calibre is dirt cheap, and if paying an extra $15 to get some cool outfits helps SGR develop into one of the best games of all time, then I am all for it!

I haven't bought them (except the one I got with the preorder). You don't have to buy them if you don't want to, it is just so Firesky can make a little extra money.

The new map is free, and the other extra content comming soon after it, is also free.

Zat'nik'ketels are comming to.

i bought them as soon as i could. if i can do anything to help the SG games i will. if that means paying for just plain old skins then i will do that. besides SGR is a pretty wicked game. also, they are going to add more Free! content soon i think.

I bought the ACPs for Goa'uld/Soldier and Ash'rak/Scientist. I have yet to acquire the Jaffa/Commando ones. I think they are worth it, it goes towards FireSky so they can continue production, looks good, and provides a taunt to illustrate how ****-sure you are in battle!

As the skins provide no perks at this stage, it is purely aesthetic, and the unlockables possibly with perks are in the works.

In this day and age of microtransaction malls, pay2play games and even contribution based gaming communities, complaining about having to "pay" for content is really old hat.

Companies work based on the best financial model to support their future, ... this isn't Secondlife where some sweaty thirteen year old makes a house that has less than 250 polygons and is selling it for $25. A paid artist has produced artwork for use in SG:R, whether we then have to pay for it is simply a business decision - if anyone wants to take that as some sort of display of capitalistic demonisation, that's personal perogative, but this is the 21st century and nearly all of us are in jobs selling products for more than they're worth, we're taxed on everything and practically have to pay for the air we breath.

If FireSky/CME had really wanted to force people into buying the packs they would've given them deliberate gameplay enhancers to entice people, but again this would've been a business decision - if anyone wants to complain that a company is trying to make money, fair enough, but it's kind of stating the obvious.

I do agree that the way the packs were released was seemingly more to do with making money, but honestly - if they'd have done anything else I'd have felt they were making a bad decision that would've negatively effected long term support and future content updates for the game.

Really?

Nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything + they are not a charity.

If you think it's worth the money, buy it and if you think it's not, don't.

It's simple as that.

Fact is They made the ACP's and they deserve the money for it, i mean 5$ is worth their work, if you want to have other characters yet you don't want to pay the money make the models yourselfs in 3Ds Max. Its as simple as that

I've got no problem with paying for new skins. I think its a good way for Firesky to generate some more $$ and keep the game alive. And hopefully put towards the release of Stargate Worlds.

I did preorder the game so got some for free, however, as soon as they release the serpent guard or horus guard armour ill be buying that for sure!
