Not complaining about the map, just please give us cautious players time to pick our fights on ground of our own choosing.
The new map has 2 game types: Arena and Deathmatch

Or is supposed to...

Opening night, all showed Arena and when I jumped in one turned out to actually be Deathmatch and I spent about 2 minutes not realizing I could just respawn by clicking because I thought it was Arena.

I don't know if something is up with the game or if its on my end, but I can not see a single Deathmatch available on the new map server options.

I really like the Deathmatch version but I'm curious why it doesn't display for me as an option even when filtered.

No it's a global problem, the first night they were reporting as deathmatch or arena, yesterday they all were reporting as arena and you can only take your chances on what you get. Hopefully the issue will soon be resolved.

Yeah there was an issue that caused Arena to be the only playable game type for Leonops, but we have a fix for this which will go out in the next patch.

The shortcut for the vocal emotes to issue preset audible statements have changed. Press v and you get a different list. Press v again and you get a second list. For example v6 used to be 'Incoming!' or 'The Tauri Approach' but is now 'Thank You'. I keep reflectively using the old ones.

For example I was playing as SGC, we were moving as a group and I advanced to check the next corridor and ran into two Goa'uld and a Jaffa. I fired my grenade into the Goauld and retreated to the rest of the team but by the time I found 'Incoming!' to warn them I was bringing the enemy in so we could waste them in a crossfire the enemy was already in range.

Like I say, I'm sure I'll get used to it shortly.

So far I am still liking it. I've played as both SGC and SL and enjoyed both. Teamwork is important and I have heard others grumble about getting wasted when they don't work as a team but I have always been big on teamwork so I am enjoying it.

I often put in a supporting role for the team (supporting or suppressing fire, healing, intel gathering, etc) and get skewed K/D or points so I'm very much enjoying the new assist points.

They broke the need a heal button when they changed it, so if you want healers to see your location you need to hit V 9 even though it says advance right or whatever it puts up the green V on the compass.

Lol no wonder.

Im liking the new map on DM mode. Not sure whats changed about goauld though. Didnt have much problem dispatchin em on soldier.

As for the arena mode it really doesnt quite work with current game mechanics. If anything it just highlights the problems with lack of autobalance. Not really keen on it.

As far as I am aware the only change is that when the ribbon device is frying a player they/you used to be able to use jump to get out of the stream. That doesn't work anymore.

As a Goauld this is helpful, if you close far enough before attacking someone the only way they are getting away is if they or someone else kills you or they can use the environment to get away (round a corner, off a balcony, etc).

As SGC it makes it more important to keep the Goauld at range as they are more effective at killing you when they do close. BigShegger, I mean you, Amarna, yesterday Good games.

Yeah, I've hit v9 a couple of times when calling for a heal. As a Goauld I haven't noticed people having to hit v9 to get the green arrow to come up though, but my heal arrows were often buggy before the patch (I was sometimes guided to fully healthy people and would only get alerted to another injury when their health got below 50hp) [Edit - see this all the time now. I habitually hit v1 and v9 together to cover myself when calling for a heal]

It takes a bit of getting used to v1 but at least it's not on the second page like Incoming!, Cover Me, Ashrak, etc. As SGC I have particularly found myself shouting for a heal when I see an Ashrak approaching one of my team mates. Shooting at the Ashrak usually alerts them to the danger - but not if you are in the middle of reloading.

Still getting used to it.
