Ok so yeah since it has being announced the game will shut down in now 57 days. The forums have well hit the fan.

I would request that some of you guys keep some dignity. I have seen people complaining about how they got ripped off or complaining that the game is being shut down.

Well here is the thing. Complaining about something never helps and especially whining on a public forum doesn't help because for all your good intentions it will come across as well to put it as polite terms as possible whining.

I know people are annoyed that after what will be 11 months of game play it will die and how you lost $20. But you must remember buying anything is a gamble and with the huge failure rate of IT services which is over 50% than we are lucky to get nearly a year.

So can we please go out the same way the forums started with respect for each other and appreciating each other and the work the developers did under what could be described as horrible conditions and under those conditions to release a game then we should applaud the developers and we should be respectful.

Also the developers are not to blame. A large number of reasons lead to the death of SGR and SGW excluding the stuff Gary Whiting has done. Yes he was I suppose the catalyst for this but he wasn't the only one that caused it and I am excluding the developers because they tried their best under everything.

Also as CME staff have said in the past: This is one of the best communities (I) have worked with. (was something to this affect).

Agreed. It would be funny if someone that was actually whining came on this thread and agreed with this.

indeed, i have always seen this forum as "better" than the other forums i read, such as trekweb, and STO, because people are nice and respectful here, and generally get along very well. on those other forums, people are rude, insulting, and heated arguments are quite common.
but since the bad news surfaced, some of us seem to be turning on each other, getting angry, and saying some things that are not very nice. the best part of sgr to me has always been the community, and i really hope we can all remain friends, and maybe even come together in another game when sgr is gone, until there is another stargate themed game that we can play.
complaining and expressing grief is one thing, but personal attacks on the devs or other players is inappropriate, considering how well we have gotten along up until now. so lets just relax, and play the game we love while we still can.

Um, guess you don't know... APB was bought and will be re-released by K2 Networks.

I remember my ipod Touch getting ran over by a truck and I didn't so much as shrug. Now THAT was a waste of money especially since Apple doesn't replace the glass (most breakable part of the device).

My point is I got over that waste of $273 USD in like 5 seconds. It's all moot at that point.
So yeah, we all lost $20 for this game. Woopdy-freakin-doody just imagine if you had it back! The things you could buy!

I can tell you right now if I got my $20 back, I'd blow it on a scratch ticket. What would you get? Seriously.

Need a tissue, guys?
As previously stated: Grow up!

Everyone handles loss in a different way. I don't fault people for being angry over the situation. You paid $$$ for a game that some faceless court said you can't play anymore. Frankly the money has nothing to do about it. So if some people want to scream their frustrations, I understand. I think it is pointless, but I understand.

I spent 4 years helping CME in my own time promote SGW and then SGR with CME and DCG all in my own time.

You can only imagine how ####ed off I am right now with what has happened .

Oh, I could take a guess, and you have leaked out some on the edges. Your to much of a stand up guy to let loose on that stuff. Of anyone here, I would understand if you decided to rip it up though.

Well if one thing has come from this is I have discovered a love for reporting and thats why I'm continuing SGGI past SGW and SGR because I'm having fun.

Obviously there has being times especially in the last few months when I feel why bother (reason why I asked for new staff). But in all the pros out way the cons. I enjoyed talking with devs about the game and non sensibly matters especially the rants he had about FF13 from Gabe (I really really miss Gabe).

I would loved to have seen SGW because I felt it could be a nice mmo that had an opportunity to bring some nice things out, but it didn't end well.

But SGR came along which I will say I wasn't 100% for it, but it came out ok and I thought it was an alright game and now it is effectively gone.

I'm sure at least SGW has the possibility of another studio taking it on but only time will tell.

Well, if you guys are looking for another game you could try Natural Selection 2, which is in closed beta right now. You might be able to get in if you pre-order the game now. Its pretty far along and blends rts and fps elements. Pretty neat.

At any rate, it should hold you over until we can get a good AND lasting SG game.

Here's hoping SGR can live on somehow.

As for the topic at hand, I agree with aaron. I can understand people being upset about paying for a game that barely lasted a year, but don't take it out on the devs. They tried their best and now they are out of the job and are likely in severe debt. The last thing they need is a bunch of hate from ungrateful forum members.

I wonder for the complainers how the same works out with an actual death.
Do you approach a loved one of the recently departed and ask for that $20 you lent to them 11 months ago?

Didn't think so.
It's been quite a ride, don't derail the fun now.
Stop complaining, get back to the game, fill the servers and have some fun.

Actually that's how things normally do work out.
Hopefully using more tact.

But in this occasion it wasn't a loan but a purchase.
The sad thing is that it's bad for both players and the devs.
If the game had a lan option we could at leas keep playing, but then it would have been easier to pirate the game.

Is that Gary you just tossed through that door?

Also,
@ Magecu

I wonder what kind of trouble the devs would get in if a pirated version just happened to fall into the hands of a tech gaming savvy Stargate fan.
