Gameplay

What factions are in the game?
Players will be able to choose between the System Lords and Stargate Command, each with three unique classes.

What are the classes?
At launch we will have 6 classes; Soldier, Commando, and Scientist for the SGC, and Jaffa, Ashrak, and Goa’uld for the System Lords. Each class will have its own arsenal of unique weapons and items. Understanding your enemy’s weakness is the first step to victory.

What weapons are currently in the game?
When you log in you can look forward to dispatching your enemies with:

  • Grenade Launchers
  • Smoke Grenades
  • Desert Eagles
  • Proximity Mines
  • Sniper Rifles
  • Gun Turrets
  • Tok’Kals
  • Ma’Tok Staffs
  • Go’Wye Ribbons
  • A’Tar Blades
  • The Hara’Kash
  • And more

Soon after launch, there will be additional weapons that can be unlocked by increasing your rank and gaining achievements.

How many game modes are there?
We have 3 game modes. Team Deathmatch, Capture the Tech, and Domination. Look for more shortly after release!

Can I go through the gate?
Yes! There will be times where you will use the Stargate to transport yourself right into the middle of an ongoing battle. You never know what type of chaos awaits you on the other side though, so always be prepared for the unknown before you make the jump. You might even find yourself making a jump into the SGC, though it may appear more hostile than you last remember.

How does Galactic Domination work?
Galactic Domination represents the continual struggle for control over the universe between the System Lords and the SGC. Each battle won increases your faction’s domination over that particular planet. If the battle is a landslide victory and you completely crush your opponents, you will receive more domination points than if your team barely wins by the skin of their teeth. If the balance in power for a particular battlefield is tipped greatly in your favor then you will receive bonuses while fighting there. If your faction manages to gain dominance over several planets then you will receive even greater bonuses.

How do I control my character?
The controls work similar to other 3rd person shooters. You use the arrow or WASD keys to move your character and you the mouse to aim. Left clicking fires your weapon’s primary attack and right clicking will use its secondary mode of attack if it has one. You can cycle through weapons by using the 1-5 keys or by scrolling the mouse wheel. You can also hold shift to sprint (briefly!) and hold ctrl to crouch which increases your accuracy.

Will my combat strategy vary depending on the class I’m playing?
Yes. Stargate Resistance is a 3rd person shooter at its core, but the diversity between our classes and the abilities they each possess makes for gameplay that is not only fast-paced but also strategic. You will need to consider the strengths of your character and the weaknesses of your current target each time you enter combat. No two classes play the same and players may find they prefer certain classes for certain game modes. However, the more comfortable you become with each class the more you will discover ways to use them effectively in any situation.

What is that green bar next to my health?
That is your energy. Energy is used to sprint and jump and the amount available varies for each class. You will find energy to be extremely useful in combat when trying to close distance on an enemy, avoid enemy fire, or jump over obstacles. Energy replenishes quickly but knowing when to spend it and when to save it can mean the difference between life and death.

How many players can I play with at once?
Our maps allow for up to 16 people to play at once.

Is there friendly fire?
You won’t be able to hurt your teammates but you can hurt yourself with your explosive weapons if you’re not careful.

Will this game support VoIP?
We will not have integrated in-game voice chat so feel free to chat with your friends by using whichever VoIP program you prefer. Also, there will be text chat channels available so that you can type to all players or just your team.

How do I raise my rank?
Specifics on how players will progress through the ranking system will be released as we continue development. Every time you play the game you will be contributing to increasing your rank and the higher your rank the greater the rewards.

Will there be achievements?
Yes! There are several achievements for those looking to conquer every challenge the game has to offer. There are general as well as class-specific achievements and even achievements particular to certain maps.

How will Stargate Resistance be different from Stargate Worlds?
While both games are set in the Stargate universe and involve Stargate lore and canon, they are two completely different games in two completely different genres. Stargate Worlds is an MMO (massively multiplayer online game) whereas Stargate Resistance is an online 3rd person shooter. Stargate Resistance offers a very different experience to our fans than Stargate Worlds, but you can expect to come across some familiar people and places.
